On this day, 36 years ago, October 27, 1989 (September 28, 1989, the Soviet Union destroyed all medium and short-range missiles. At 9 a.m. Moscow time on October 27, 1989, the Soviet Union destroyed the last of the 957 medium-and short-range missiles it possessed at the Sareozek test site in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
