61 years ago today, on June 5, 1964 (April 25, 1964 lunar calendar), Peking Opera Modern Opera was observed and performed. On June 5, 1964, the National Peking Opera Modern Opera Observation and Performance Conference kicked off in Beijing. Participating in the performance were units directly under the Ministry of Culture and 29 troupes from 18 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. Performed 25 large plays and 10 small plays. The big plays alone include "The Story of Red Lanterns" and "Red Detachment of Women" by the Chinese Peking Opera Troupe, "Dang Tinder" and "Dujuan Mountain" by the Beijing Peking Opera Troupe, "The Wise Tiger Mountain" by the Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe, "The Surprise of the White Tiger Troupe" by the Shandong Peking Opera Troupe, "Sister-in-law" by the Zibo and Qingdao Peking Opera Troupe, "Dainuo" by the Yunnan Peking Opera Troupe, "Five Keys" by the Changchun Peking Opera Troupe, "Festival Zhenguo" by the Tangshan Peking Opera Troupe, "Little Sisters of Grassland Heroes" by the Inner Mongolia Peking Opera Troupe, "Gate 6" by the Tianjin Peking Opera Troupe, "Revolution has its own descendants" by the Harbin Peking Opera Troupe, "The First Records of Cultivation" by the Jiangsu Peking Opera Trou This large number of Peking Opera modern operas with high achievements in thought and art have made useful explorations for Peking Opera, a rigorous ancient opera genre, to express modern life and shape the characters of the new era, and also added a dazzling brilliance to this Peking Opera event itself.
