Soong Ching Ling issued a declaration on the current situation: "The Kuomintang is no longer a political force"

Soong Ching Ling
On December 19, 1931, Soong Ching Ling issued a declaration in Shanghai entitled "The Kuomintang is no longer a political force."
In 1931, Japanese imperialism deliberately provoked the September 18th Incident and invaded Northeast China. The China people launched an anti-Japanese and national salvation movement. However, the Kuomintang Chiang Kai-shek government implemented the policy of "resisting foreign countries must first settle the domestic world," suppressed the growing student patriotic movement and killed Deng Yanda, the leftist leader of the Kuomintang. Soong Ching Ling was very indignant at Chiang Kai-shek's perverse behavior. She wrote the "Soong Ching Ling's Manifesto" and publicly declared that "the Kuomintang is no longer a political force." It was rejected and hated by the people across the country. In January 1932, the Japanese army launched another attack on Shanghai, and the "January 28" War of Resistance against Shanghai broke out. Soong Ching Ling immediately advocated "actively resisting to the end." She also came to the front line to express her condolences to the patriotic soldiers of the 19th Route Army who had fought bloody battles. She took the lead in launching a campaign to donate cotton-padded clothes, and in just five days, she rushed to make more than 30,000 sets of cotton-padded clothes and sent them to the front line. She also organized forces, raised funds, and founded the National Hospital for the Wounded. Inspired by Soong Ching Ling's patriotic act, in just over a month, people from all walks of life in Shanghai opened more than 70 hospitals for wounded soldiers. Various condolences were continuously sent to the front line, effectively supporting the Songhu Anti-Japanese War.
Declaration content:
As a political force, the Kuomintang no longer exists. This is a fact that cannot be concealed. It was not the opponents outside the party that contributed to the demise of the Kuomintang, but the party's own leaders. In 1925, Sun Yat-sen died of illness in Beijing, and the National Revolution suddenly lost its leadership and stopped. Fortunately, the party comrades in Guangzhou at that time strictly abided by his legacy and used the masses as the foundation of the revolution, so that the Northern Expedition could achieve victory in the Yangtze River Basin in a short period of time. But not long after, Chiang Kai-shek's personal dictatorship and quarrels between warlords and politicians caused the Nining-Han split and deepened the gap between the party and the people.
Brutal massacres and terror drove the revolution underground. The Kuomintang used the name of anti-communism to cover up its betrayal of the revolution and continued its reactionary activities. In the central government, Kuomintang members fought for high and low positions and formed private factions to consolidate their position; at the local level, they also exploited the masses to satisfy personal greed. They colluded with one warlord after another, and thus were able to leap to high positions in the party and the government. But loyal and true revolutionaries were deliberately tortured to death. Deng Yanda's brutal murder is the latest example.
For five years, there has been a cycle of civil war and political intrigue. By abandoning the revolutionary policy, the hostile factions surrendered to the imperialists and used force and the most despicable means. What the Beiyang warlord politicians dared not do in the past, they did without any scruples in the name of "party rule." Therefore, the Kuomintang has lost its reputation today and is hated and hated by the whole country. What is there to be surprised? Sun Yat-sen's will was not actually implemented for a day.
The recent split between the two factions of Ningzhou and Nanjing has formed two opposing forces. Each side accuses the other of their shortcomings and boasts of their own strengths. They use false political slogans such as "political openness", "democratic rule", "revolution, diplomacy", etc. as weapons to deceive the Chinese people. But in fact, both factions in Guangzhou and Nanjing are backed by warlords, both are trying to win the favor of their imperialist masters, and both betray and massacre the Chinese people.
Due to Japan's blatant invasion of Northeast China, Guangzhou and Nanjing, both groups had to temporarily suspend open war due to the current national disaster and public condemnation, and held the so-called "Peaceful Reunification Conference". The conspiracy revolved around the conference for three months, and the central issue of contention was nothing more than the distribution of positions in the Party Central Committee and the government. There was not a word mentioned in this conference about the suffering and urgent needs of the migrant workers who make up the vast majority of the country. These hostile factions, ignorant of selfishness, completely failed to see that personal dictatorship, the degeneration of the Party, and the imperialist partition of China were the results of their separation of the Kuomintang from the masses.
Only a party based on a worker-peasant policy can lay the foundation for socialism, crush the forces of the warlords and cast off the yoke of imperialism. If the so-called "peace" and "unification" proceed smoothly, so that each faction satisfies its greed, then "peace" is nothing more than the peaceful division of the spoils, and "unification" is nothing more than the unified plunder of the masses. It is absolutely impossible to imagine that the people of China would like to see such "peace" or that the whole country would like such "unity."
We can now see the first fruits of this unification in Nanjing. Only three days ago, under the orders of the ambassadors of the imperialist countries, this "unity government" tried to suppress the patriotic student movement. In less than twelve hours, soldiers and hooligans surrounded the students, stabbed them with guns, and drove them out of the city like animals. Many students were killed and wounded, and a large number of others were reported missing.
The violence was staged at a time when a foreign imperialist army was advancing in Jinzhou, and all traitors and imperialists were being treated, humiliated and protected. This atrocity occurred after people who verbally talked about revolutionary diplomacy, national democracy and freedom of speech, publication, and assembly arrived in Nanjing. It can be clearly seen that the new unified government is composed of imperialist agents such as Japan, France, Britain, and the United States and serves this group of masters with conflicting interests. It will continue to accept orders from the imperialists and suppress any form of mass movement of the China nation seeking liberation.
I can't bear to see Sun Yat-sen's 40 years of work destroyed by a small group of selfish Kuomintang warlords and politicians. I can't bear to see China, with 475 million people, die under imperialism because the Kuomintang betrayed its own ideology.
Therefore, I have to announce frankly that since the purpose of organizing the Kuomintang was to use it as a revolutionary machine, and since it failed to complete the task for which it was created, we need not regret its demise. I firmly believe that only a revolution based on and serving the masses can crush the power of warlords and politicians, get rid of the shackles of imperialism, and truly implement socialism. I am convinced that, despite the terrorist activities of the reactionary forces in power today, millions of genuine revolutionaries in China will not abdicate their responsibilities; on the contrary, because of the critical situation prevailing in the country, they will intensify their work and advance victoriously towards the goals set by the revolution.
