102 years ago today, on August 2, 1923 (June 20, 1923 in the lunar calendar), Zhejiang launched the peace movement. In August 1923, all walks of life in Jiangsu and Zhejiang jointly initiated the establishment of a peace association in an attempt to prevent Jiangsu and Zhejiang soldiers from launching wars. In June this year, Cao Kun expelled Li Yuanhong, which set off an anti-revolutionary upsurge across the country. Direct warlord Qi Xieyuan sent more troops to Kunshan and joined forces with Fujian Sun Chuanfang to prepare to attack Shanghai and Zhejiang. With the purpose of "striving to preserve public security in the two provinces", the bourgeoisie in Jiangsu and Zhejiang organized the "Preparatory Meeting for the Peace Association of Jiangsu and Zhejiang" to contact people from Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces to launch a peace movement, which was supported by the bourgeoisie in the southeastern provinces. In early August, the Peace Association was officially established, with its main members Huang Yanpei, Chu Fucheng, Fang Jiaobo, Mu Ouchu, etc. The purpose of the association is peaceful suppression of troops, and its main purpose is to prevent Qi Xieyuan, the direct Jiangsu governor, from sending troops to attack Shanghai and Zhejiang. After the establishment of the association, representatives were sent to hold talks with Lu Yongxiang and Qi Xieyuan, the supervisors of Zhejiang's military affairs. State the interests and demand that peace be maintained in the southeast region. On August 19, with the efforts and mediation of these two peace groups, Lu Yongxiang and Qi Xieyuan, together with the governors of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and the Shanghai Military Guard Envoy, jointly concluded the "Jiang-Zhejiang Peace Pact", delaying the outbreak of the warlord war in Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
