In October 1958, he participated in the 14th International Music Competition in Geneva and won the highest prize in the Women's Piano Competition. His fame shook the world music scene. In March 1960, he participated in the 6th Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and received high praise. In the same year, he received an honorary diploma from the Central Conservatory of Music. After that, he was rated as an Outstanding Youth of Shanghai City, a Red Flag Player on March 8, and an Outstanding Member of the Cultural Bureau for many consecutive years. In April 1964, he participated in the Belgian International Piano Competition and won the grand prize again. Later, he performed in the Netherlands and Finland on behalf of China. He suffered cruel persecution during the Cultural Revolution and passed away unjustly on January 31, 1967 at the age of 30. In January 1979, he was restored and his reputation was restored.
