On August 25, 1912, the Chinese Kuomintang was established
On this day, 113 years ago, on August 25, 1912 (July 13, 1912 in the lunar calendar), the Chinese Kuomintang was proclaimed. Sun Yat-sen, who was publicly promoted as the leader of the Kuomintang, was elected on August 11, 1912. Five political groups, the Tongmeng Association, the United Republican Party, the National Civic Party, the National Republican Progressive Association and the Republican Progressive Association, met at the Anqing Hall in Beijing to reach an agreement on merging into the Kuomintang. On the 13th, a manifesto was issued, saying: "In the system of a republic, the people are the main body of the country. We will not forget its meaning, so we will call it the Kuomintang." At 1 pm on the 25th, the founding meeting of the Kuomintang was held in the Huguang Guild Sun Zhici said: "There are political parties in a country to promote the progress of politics, so all civilized countries in the world have political parties to maintain it. Today, the five major political parties are one Kuomintang, and their power is very great. It should have a great effect to promote the progress of the politics of the Republic of China. But I hope you will refresh your spirit and strive for the development of your own party, so as to benefit the country. And you must remove the territory, do not discriminate against different parties, and do not hold party views." The conference adopted the "Kuomintang Political Opinion Declaration" and the political platform. The manifesto advocated that "the prosperity of a country's political party should only be caused by confrontation between the two parties, and it is not appropriate for the separation of small parties." The political platform consists of five items: (1) Promote political unity. (2) Develop local autonomy. (3) Implement racial assimilation (4) Focus on people's livelihood policies. (5) Maintain international peace. The platform deletes the "equal land rights" and "equal rights for men and women" programs of the Tongmeng Association, and replaces "striving for international equality" with "maintaining international peace". The conference elected Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing, Song Jiaoren and other 9 as directors, and Yan Xishan, Zhang Ji, Li Liejun, Hu Ying and other 30 as senators. After the establishment of the Kuomintang, it became the largest party in China.
