Breaking-News >> TodayHistory July 16, 1912 Reorganization of the Alliance
On this day, 113 years ago, July 16, 1912 (June 3, 1912 in the lunar calendar), the League was reorganized. On July 16, 1912, Song Jiaoren, who advocated the reorganization of the Alliance, convened all member meetings to discuss the reorganization issue. Song Jiaoren believed that if he wanted to oppose Yuan Shikai's control of power, he must "vigorously contact the sponsors of this Council of other parties" and become a "strong and true political party." However, most members opposed the proposal and was not adopted. On the 21st, the Alliance held a summer general meeting, but most members still disagreed. However, the conference elected Song Jiaoren and Sun Yuyun and Zhang Yao, who were in favor of the reorganization, as directors of the General Affairs, Finance, and Political Affairs Departments, and the reorganization opinions prevailed. Song Jiaoren contacted the United Republican Party to seek cooperation. On behalf of the United Republican Party, Wu Jinglian proposed three prerequisites: (1) changing the name of the Alliance;(2) abolishing people's livelihood; and (3) improving the internal organization. Sun Yat-sen and Huang Xing both agreed. The National Public Party learned that the Alliance would merge with the United Republican Party and expressed its willingness to participate.
