31 years ago today, on December 30, 1994 (November 28, 1994 lunar calendar), the Sanmenxia Yellow River Highway Bridge was opened to traffic. On December 30, 1994, jointly built by Henan and Shanxi provinces, the 1,130-meter Sanmenxia Yellow River Highway Bridge was officially opened to traffic. The bridge is located between Pinglu County, Shanxi Province and Sanmenxia City, Henan Province. The completion and opening of the Sanmenxia Yellow River Highway Bridge ended the history of ferrying across the river at the ancient ferry port for more than 2,000 years.
