On this day, 78 years ago, on October 22, 1947 (September 9, 1947, the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Field Army attacked Qingfengdian. The Communist Party of China and the people worked together to destroy the Baobei Railway, cut off the enemy's transportation, and prevent the enemy's southern aid. On October 22, 1947, after three days of fierce fighting, the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Field Army wiped out more than 17,000 Kuomintang troops and captured Luo Lirong, commander of the Kuomintang Third Army, and Yang Guangyu, deputy commander. This month, Yang Dezhi and Yang Chengwu led the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Field Army to take advantage of the Kuomintang army's transfer of troops from within the Pass to fight outside the Pass to start attacking the Pinghan Railway and besiege Xushui.
