Twenty-six years ago today, on November 13th, 1999 (October 6th, 1999 in the lunar calendar), another strong earthquake struck Turkey, killing more than 300 people. On November 12th, 1999, a strong earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale occurred in Bolu province in northwest Turkey at 18: 57 local time on the 12th (0: 57 Beijing time on the 13th). The center of this strong earthquake was in Dizje City, Bolu Province, about 200 kilometers away from Ankara. The earthquake killed 321 people and injured 1,850 others. At present, the rescue work is still in progress, and rescuers are trying their best to rescue the survivors buried in the ruins. The earthquake caused more than 50 buildings to collapse and some buildings to catch fire. Many residents in the disaster area sleep on the streets to avoid aftershocks that may occur at any time. Now that Turkey has entered winter, the lowest temperature in the epicenter is below zero degrees Celsius, and the situation of the victims is worrying.
