On December 7, 1896, Yu Dafu, a modern Chinese novelist and essayist, was born.
On December 7, the 22nd year of the Qing Dynasty (1896), Yu Dafu was born into an intellectual family in Manzhou Lane (now renamed Dafu Lane), Fuyang City, Zhejiang Province. Yu Dafu was one of the founders of the new literary group "Creation Society", a patriotic writer who sacrificed himself to fight against Japan and save the country. While writing literature, he also actively participated in various anti-imperialist and anti-Japanese organizations, and successively engaged in anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda activities in Shanghai, Wuhan, Fuzhou and other places. His literary masterpieces include "Huai Lu Xun", "Sinking", "Autumn in the Old Capital", "Evening of Spring Breeze Intoxication", "Past", and "Late Osmanthus".
In 1952, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China posthumously recognized Yu Dafu as a revolutionary martyr. On September 1, 2014, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China announced that Yu Dafu was among the first group of 300 anti-Japanese heroes and heroes who fought tenaciously and died for the country in the Anti-Japanese War.
