Twenty-eight years ago today, on October 27, 1997 (September 26, 1997), the first World Congress of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine opened in Beijing. On October 27, 1997, the World Congress of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine opened at the Beijing International Convention Center. The theme of the conference was "Inheritance, Development, Integration and Innovation", and the exchange focus was on the extensive experience of integrated Chinese and Western medicine in theory, clinical practice, education and policy management. This conference was the first World Congress of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine held in our country, which was highly valued by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. More than 1,000 scholars at home and abroad participated. According to the introduction, since the founding of New China, especially since the reform and opening up, China's integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine has achieved rapid development. In various aspects such as talent training, medical and scientific research base construction, scientific research and academic exchanges, its fruitful experimentation and theoretical innovation have attracted the attention of the international scientific community. Now, our country has 40 provincial and municipal integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine hospitals, 17 integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine research institutions, and nearly 60,000 integrated Chinese and Western medicine teams.
