On October 1, 2010 (August 24, 2010 in the lunar calendar), the "Chang'e-2" satellite was successfully launched in Xichang. At 18:59:57 on October 1, 2010, the Long March 3C carrier rocket carrying the Chang'e-2 satellite was ignited and launched at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The "Chang'e-2" technical pilot star of the second phase of China's lunar exploration project was launched into space by the "Long March 3C" carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on the evening of the 1st. After flying for 1533 seconds, Chang'e-2 achieved the separation of satellite and rocket and placed the satellite into orbit. The "Chang'e-2" satellite has carried out technical improvements and adaptive modifications based on the backup satellite of China's first lunar exploration satellite "Chang'e-1". Its main goal is to achieve a soft lunar landing for the second phase of China's lunar exploration project, verify some key technologies, and perform high-resolution imaging of the pre-selected lunar rainbow bay landing area of the "Chang'e-3", while continuing to carry out lunar science exploration and research. The "Long March 3C" carrier rocket bundled with two boosters belongs to China's "Long March 3A" carrier rocket series. For this space launch, the mission of the "Long March 3C" carrier rocket is to carry the "Chang'e-2" satellite is sent into a direct lunar orbit with a perigee altitude of 200 kilometers and an apogee altitude of about 380,000 kilometers.
