Newspaper writer Shi Liangcai On the afternoon of November 13, 1934, Shi Liangcai, general manager of Shanghai Shenbao, and his wife, niece, son, his son's classmates, and driver, took a self-owned car back to Shanghai from Hangzhou. They were ambushed by Kuomintang spies on the way. Shi Liangcai, his son's classmates, and the driver were killed on the spot. His son escaped. Shi Liangcai was born on January 2, 1880 in Xiuning, Jiangsu Province. In 1908, he served as the chief writer of Shanghai Times. In 1913, he served as general manager of Shenbao. In 1929, he successively purchased most of the shares of News and Current Affairs News, becoming the largest newspaper capitalist in the country. After the September-18th Incident in 1931, he was dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's policy of non-resistance. He often published articles criticizing the Kuomintang government's internal and external policies in the "Shen Bao", and provided funds to assist the 19th Route Army in resisting Japan, supported Soong Ching Ling and others in organizing the Human Rights Protection Alliance, demanding an end to the Kuomintang's fascist dictatorship, which angered Chiang Kai-shek, and was assassinated.
