Forty years ago today, on September 21, 1985 (August 7, 1985 lunar calendar), Shengli Oilfield discovered a rich and high-producing oil-bearing area. On September 21, 1985, after the discovery of the Gudong Oilfield, the second largest oilfield in our country, Shengli Oilfield recently discovered a new rich and high-producing oil-bearing area near Wanquan Village, ten kilometers south of Dongying, the oilfield base. The Wanquan oil-bearing area was drilled last year. At present, eleven exploratory wells have been drilled, and the wells have seen oil. Among the five wells that have been tested, the highest daily output of crude oil is 244 tons. This oil-bearing area has a large oil layer thickness and a wide area, and the oil-bearing area has been initially controlled for 50 square kilometers. The discovery of this oil-bearing area has connected the two oil areas of Niuzhuang and Liuhu in Dongying City as a whole, forming a large oil field with oil geological reserves of hundreds of millions of tons.
