On May 22, 2006 (April 25, 2006 in the lunar calendar), Guo Jingming plagiarized. On May 22, 2006, the "Guo Jingming Plagiarism Incident" that lasted for more than two years came to an end. The Beijing City Higher People's Court issued a final judgment, upholding the first-instance judgment of the Beijing City No. 1 Intermediate People's Court, and found that Guo Jingming's book "Know How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream" constituted a plagiarism of Zhuang Yu's "Inside and Outside the Circle" as a whole. It ordered Guo Jingming and Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House to compensate Zhuang Yu for economic losses of 200,000 yuan, and Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House and Beijing Book Building to stop publishing and selling "How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream". Event writer Zhuang Yu said that Guo Jingming's book "How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream" published by Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House in November 2003 used methods such as make-change, misplacement of characters, and reversal of order to plagiarize the original conception of the novel "Inside and Outside the Circle", which she completed in November 2002, the main clues of the story, most of the plot, main character characteristics, and language style of the work. To this end, Guo Jingming, Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House and the seller Beijing Book Building were sued to court. On December 7, 2004, the First Intermediate People's Court of Beijing City issued a first-instance judgment on the copyright dispute case between Guo Jingming and Zhuang Yu, ordering Guo Jingming and Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House to immediately stop the publication and distribution of the book "How Much Flowers Fall in a Dream", jointly compensate the plaintiff Zhuang Yu for economic losses of 200,000 yuan, and publicly apologize to the plaintiff Zhuang Yu in the newspaper. The defendant Beijing Book Building Co., Ltd. stopped selling the book "How Much Flowers Fall in a Dream". After the first-instance judgment in December 2004, Guo Jingming stated that he would continue to appeal, and also stated that he had never had any out-of-court contact with Zhuang Yu and would not consider resolving the dispute through settlement. On December 20, 2004, Zhuang Yu formally filed an appeal with the Beijing City Higher People's Court. In May 2006, the Beijing City High Court found that Guo Jingming's novel "How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream" plagiarized writer Zhuang Yu's work "Inside and Outside the Circle". Guo Jingming and Chunfeng Literature and Art Publishing House jointly compensated Zhuang Yu for economic losses of 200,000 yuan, recovered 10,000 yuan for spiritual damage, stopped selling "How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream", publicly apologized, etc., and implemented within a 15th day limit. It is not only Guo Jingming himself who influences the lessons that should be learned from Guo Jingming's plagiarism, but also those people and institutions who surround Guo Jingming and benefit from the reputation of the young writer. What the whole society needs to reflect more is why in such an important field of spiritual creation and why in the public space where young people's feelings are growing, righteousness cannot be demonstrated, but unhealthy tendencies can run rampant? What works and mechanisms should we use to guide the growth of young people, and what behaviors should we restrict?
