Seventy-six years ago today, on November 11, 1949 (September 21, 1949 lunar calendar), the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force was established. The conditions of the newly formed People's Air Force were extremely difficult. The picture shows pilots feeding on corn and pickles. On October 25, 1949, the Central Military Commission decided to establish the Air Force Leading Organ of the Military Commission on the basis of the 14th Corps Organ, the Aviation Bureau of the Military Commission and the Sixth Branch of the Fourth Field Army. Liu Yalou was the commander, Xiao Hua was the political commissar and director of the Political Department, Wang Bingzhang was the chief of staff, Chang Qiankun was the deputy commander and training minister, and Wang Bi was the deputy political commissar and the minister of engineering. On November 11, the People's Liberation Army Air Force Leading Organization was established in Beijing. So far, the Air Force has officially become a military branch of the People's Liberation Army.
