On this day, 33 years ago, on June 9, 1992 (May 9, 1992, the Japanese Parliament passed a bill to send troops overseas. On June 9 and 15, 1992, the Senate and House of Representatives of Japan successively passed the "Assistance to United Nations Peacekeeping Activities Act"(PKO Act for short) despite the opposition and boycott of members of the Socialist Party and other members. This was the first time after the war that Japan's parliament passed a bill to send troops overseas. According to the bill, Japan can send 2000 self-defense personnel overseas. The move by the Japanese National Assembly was strongly opposed by most Japanese citizens and social groups. They made speeches or held demonstrations to protest against the adoption of military tactics by the National Assembly and called on Japan not to follow the path of war. Some Asian countries have expressed concern about Japan's passage of the troop dispatch law.
