On August 5, 1100, Henry I was crowned King of England at the Church of Westminster.

Henry I (1068 – 1 December 1135), King of the Normandy dynasty of England (1100 – 1135), young son of William the Conqueror, took office after his brother William II died in a mysterious hunting accident.

Henry I reigned at home in 1106 when he sailed to France in the Battle of Tansbury and defeated the rival Duke of Normandy, Robert II Cossus (the eldest son of William the Conqueror), imprisoning the latter forever. In 1120 his heir, William Adler, drowned. Henry I appointed his wife, Matilda (the widow of Emperor Henry V of the Holy Roman Empire), as his heir. But after his death, the throne actually fell into the hands of his nephew, Count Stephen of Blois.

Comment: Europe at that time seemed to have wars every day, and every king had a history of wars.
