The statue of David was officially exhibited in Florence

On September 8, 1504, the marble statue of David created by Italian sculptor Michelangelo was first exhibited in Florence.

The statue of David (David) was carved by Michelangelo in the Renaissance era from 1501 to 1504 to represent the expression of King David when he fought the giant Goliath. It is 4.342 meters high and weighs more than 5,000 kilograms. The original work is currently placed in the Art Gallery of the Academy in Florence, Italy, attracting about 1.20 million people to visit every year.

Michelangelo was commissioned to sculpt the "Statue of David" at the age of 26. It was completed at the age of 30. The statue was made of a piece of pure white marble. Michelangelo studied skin, blood vessel lines and joints, and was praised as a classic art. model. On September 8, 1504, the statue of David was first exhibited in Florence.

It is said that the original stone of David was mined from Carrara Mountain in the Alps and was handed over to another sculptor, but the sculptor found that the hardness and density of the stone were smooth, and he was afraid that his own attainments would be insufficient and the treasure would be wasted. He later handed it over to Michelangelo.

The nudity of the early statue of David was controversial, and 28 copper fig leaves were forcibly worn to cover up its shame. His left forearm was broken during the riots in Florence in 1527, and he was also struck by lightning. In 1991, a crazy artist injured his toes with a hammer, which were carefully repaired and restored. Since the original statue was moved to the Art Academy Gallery in 1873, in Florence, his successors have reproduced two statues of David and displayed them in public places. One is in the center of Piazza Michelangelo and the other is in front of the gate of the Municipal Square.

When artists portrayed David in the past, they mostly focused on the scene of him cutting off the giant of Goliath and winning; but Michelangelo's portrait of David focused on his facial expressions and body and limbs, showing his eyebrows furrowed and glaring, looking straight ahead with all attention.

This statue shows David throwing a stone. David's hands are very tense, showing blue veins, so you can see that he is about to hit the staff. He shows the muscles that Michelangelo is good at, and he has big hands, big head, and shows a sense of strength. He looks around the square, looks up, and extends the space.

Key words: September 8, 1504, David Rosa
