On this day, 88 years ago, on November 8, 1937 (October 6, 1937, the China Journalists Association was established. The full name of China Journalists Association is called the All-China Journalists Association. The organization is a national mass organization jointly formed by journalists associations and journalism societies of all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, as well as professional journalist associations and other professional journalism institutions and journalists. The predecessor of the China Journalists Association, the China Young Journalists Association, was established on November 8, 1937 under the direct care of the Party Central Committee and Premier Zhou Enlai. After the establishment of the Youth Journalists Association, it united journalists and made outstanding contributions in promoting the struggle against Japan and democracy, cultivating and creating a large number of outstanding journalists. The activities of the China Young Journalists Association continued until the liberation of the country. In September 1954, the China Young Journalists Association was renamed the All-China Journalists Association. In 1957, the First Congress of China Journalists was held in Beijing, officially announcing the establishment of the All-China Journalists Association. During the ten years of turmoil from 1966 to 1976, the China Journalists Association was forced to stop working. In August 1980, the China Journalists Association resumed its activities. The current work tasks of China Journalists Association are to actively organize exchanges of study, research and work experience among China journalists to improve their theoretical level and professional capabilities; carry out friendly exchanges with their counterparts in the international press community and enhance the friendship between China journalists and journalists from other countries. Now, the China Journalists Association has become a national mass organization that enjoys certain prestige in the press circles at home and abroad, and has carried out friendly exchanges with press friends from more than 100 countries and regions around the world. The association also established the Staff Journalism College, organized many relocation interviews and experience exchange meetings, and held a national commendation conference for outstanding journalists. These have played a positive role in promoting the development of my country's journalism.
