On August 6, 2003 (July 9, 2003 in the lunar calendar), South Korea Pan, former president of the Fujian Province Historical Society, died of illness. Born in December 1919 in Rugao, Jiangsu Province, he studied in the Department of History and Geography of Suwan University after graduating from high school, and later transferred to the Department of History of Xiamen University. He graduated in 1945. Since the autumn of 1946, he has served as an assistant professor, lecturer, associate professor and professor of the History Department of Xiamen University. In 1949, he published his first paper "Opinions on Li Mi's Issue" in Jimei Weekly. From 1954 to 1963, seven monographs were published in 10 years, including "A Brief History of the Sui Dynasty","Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty","Economic Exploration of the Northern Dynasties","Outline of History of the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties", and "Economic Exploration of the Southern Dynasties". Since 1961, he has been responsible for supervising graduate students and served as doctoral supervisor in 1984. The "Outline of History of the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties" and "Outline of History of the Wei, Jin, Southern and Southern Dynasties" compiled by him were used as historical textbooks. The People's Publishing House alone published more than 250,000 copies, influencing a generation of historians. In 1975, Pan, South Korea, had a 20-centimeter esophagus removed due to esophageal cancer. During the treatment, he also guided graduate students to complete academic projects such as "History Outline of the Wei, Jin and Southern Dynasties","Economic History of the Northern and Southern Dynasties", and "Research on Economic Documents Unearthed in Dunhuang and Turpan". High-level books and more than 120 papers have also been invited to give lectures in universities in Japan and South Korea many times. In 1989, he was rated as a national outstanding teacher, and in 1990, he was awarded the "Rich Award for Scientific Research Achievements in Education Loyal to the Party" from Fujian Province. Enjoy special allowances from the State Council since 1991. He was elected as an adviser to the History Society of China, the History Society of Wei, Jin and Southern Dynasties, the History Society of China and the History Society of Tang Dynasty and the Society of Dunhuang and Turpan in China. He was president of the History Society of Fujian Province, the third member and fourth member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC of Fujian Province, and a representative of the Sixth National People's Congress.
