Deng Tuo Deng Tuo, a native of Minhou, Fujian. Formerly known as Zhong Zijian, Zhongyunte, pen name Ma Nancun, Xiangyangsheng, etc. In 1930, he joined the Alliance of Social Sciences and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. In 1937, he came to the Jinchaji Border Area and successively served as the president and editor-in-chief of the Jinchaji Daily and the chief of the Jinchaji Branch of Xinhua News Agency. Secretary of the Party News Committee of the Jinchaji Central Branch of the Communist Party of China and Vice Minister of Propaganda Department. After the founding of the People's Daily, he served as editor-in-chief and president, chairperson of the All-China Press Federation, alternate secretary of the Secretariat of the North China Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Department of Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and academic member of the Chinese Institute of History. On April 16, 1966, the Beijing Daily published a number of articles criticizing "Notes on Three Villages" and "Yanshan Night Talk" in three editions. In April 1966, Deng Tuo (Secretary of the Secretariat of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China), Wu Han (Vice Mayor of Beijing), and Liao Mosha (Director of the United Front Work Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China) were designated as "Three Villages Anti-Party Group" for their co-authored essay collection "Notes on Three Villages" and were criticized. On May 18, 1966, renowned social scientist and journalist Deng Tuo passed away at the age of 54.
