On this day, 89 years ago, on September 18, 1936 (August 3, 1936, the lunar calendar), Yan Xishan launched the "Sacrifice Alliance for National Salvation." On September 18, 1936, the location of the Shanxi Sacrifice National Salvation Alliance, an anti-Japanese national salvation organization with the nature of the united front in Shanxi Province, was established in Taiyuan. Yan Xishan served as president, Rong Wusheng, Song Shaowen and others served as members, and there were branches in all counties in Shanxi. The Ximeng Association put forward the general program of "regardless of party affiliation, men and women, regardless of profession, as long as people who do not want to be slaves to the country, mobilize together and actively participate in all national salvation movements."
