Local time, Mississippi and Louisiana suffered a large-scale 911 emergency service disruption lasting for hours, affecting several areas including the two state capitals.The two state government departments said the disruption was due to "accidental fiber rupture".

On the afternoon of the 25th, 911 emergency services in major cities such as the capital of Mississippi, Jackson, Louisiana, Papua New Orleans and several counties of the two states were interrupted.

During the incident, the emergency departments of the two states called on people to switch to backup calls or non-emergency alarm calls to respond to emergencies, leading to overload of backup lines in some areas, a surge in non-emergency calls and even service disruptions.

Carl Fassold, head of the New Orleans Communications Area at U.S. Telecom, said at a news conference that the service disruption was caused by a ¡°accidental break of the primary fiber¡± in Mississippi, and there were no signs of malicious damage. Government agencies such as the Mississippi Emergency Administration confirmed this statement. Mike Steele, a spokesman for the Louisiana Office for Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, said there is currently no evidence that the incident was linked to a cyber attack.

The U.S. telegraph issued a statement at 6 p.m. on Friday that 911 emergency services had been fully restored in the affected areas.
