On September 24, Japan's 42-year-old mayor, Xiaokawa晶, held a press conference, acknowledging that she had opened a hotel room with a married man more than a dozen times.
She said she only sought personal and work advice from her male subordinates, hoping to find a place where she didn’t have to worry about others. She said she had travelled to the hotel by government vehicle, the rent was paid by herself, and the two had no relationship.
Asked whether to consider resigning, she said she "wants to consider action after consulting third parties such as lawyers."
According to the report, Akira Ogawa is the first female mayor of the city, and the citizens of the city called her behavior "embarrassing and disappointing".
