Abbas condemns Israel’s “genocide war”

On September 25, Palestinian President Abbas spoke in a video-connected speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations, condemning the Israeli government is conducting "a genocidal war", considering it "one of the most terrifying chapters in the human tragedy of the 20th and 21st centuries."

Abbas was unable to attend the UN General Assembly in new york because of the obstruction of the United States on the visa issue. He said that "a war that has brought genocide, destruction, hunger and displacement has been going on for nearly two years." The Israeli occupying forces' military operations in the Gaza Strip were inhuman, and more than 220,000 Palestinians were either killed or injured. Most of them were children, women and the elderly.

Abbas also condemned Israel's expansion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank, believing that it would endanger the "two-state solution" aimed at fundamentally solving the Palestinian-Israeli issue. He said, "We reject and fully condemn the 'Greater Israel' plan put forward by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu," and at the same time drew the attention of the international community to the "terrorist" acts of Jewish settlers attacking Palestinian villages, towns and civilians.

He opposed the raid launched by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, saying such actions do not represent the Palestinian people or their "just war for freedom and independence."

Abbas reiterated that the Gaza Strip "is an integral part of the Palestinian State" and that the Palestinian authorities "are ready to assume all responsibility for the governance and security of the Gaza Strip," adding that "Hamas will not play a role in (the Gaza Strip) governance."

On the 25th, the Israeli army continued to advance military operations in the Gaza Strip. According to statistics from the health department in the Gaza Strip, since the outbreak of this round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of 65,419 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
