Lithuania's new government takes office

Lithuania's new prime minister, Rouhani, and 14 ministers took the oath in parliament on 25th.

On the same day, Lithuania’s President, Mr Zezda, signed a decree approving the list of new cabinet members. Lithuanian parliament then held a meeting to approve the list of new cabinet members with 80 votes in favour, 40 votes against, and two abstentions.

On July 31, Paluckas announced his resignation as Prime Minister and Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania. The Lithuanian Parliament held a special session on August 26 to vote on the approval of the Social Democratic nomination of Rouhani as the new Prime Minister.
