Chengdu girl committed suicide in Bali, survivors recall poisoning: the hostel while shouting an ambulance while serving food, someone in the toilet fainted for 7 hours, no one cares

For Ms. Li (a pseudonym), a Chinese tourist, there is only a lingering nightmare left on the sunny beaches of Bali. She never thought that an ordinary trip would make her pass by death, and even take the life of a roommate she met by chance.

"A fresh life should not pass away in such an obscure way." Ms. Li said in an interview with Red Star News reporter.

The tragedy took place in a youth hostel in Bali. According to several relatives, since late on August 31, the hostel has experienced collective, suspicious food poisoning incidents, at least 11 guests from different countries have had severe symptoms of vomiting, dehydration and even shock, and a young girl died unfortunately in the room. Another Chinese survivor, Ms. Zhao, told Red Star news reporters that she was also at risk of death - engaged from four o’clock in the morning to eleven o’clock in the morning, she repeatedly vomited and fainted in the toilet interval, fainted for seven hours, no one was found.

It’s worse than a knife.”

Only when I was admitted to ICU did I realize that many residents had already been sent to hospital

“I never thought that an ordinary journey would make me stand by the dead.” – Mrs. Li, the survivor, still fears.

On August 31, Ms. Lee stayed at the Clandestino Hostel Canggu, a youth hostel with a rating of 9.6 on one of the booking platforms. When she stayed in, she met a Chengdu girl in the same house. From the conversation, she learned that the girl was healthy and always fit.

From the early morning of September 1st, Ms. Lee began without signs to "blow up on the ground and sweat cold all over the body," and had to go to the clinic late at night for infusion and oxygen. At noon, when she dragged her weak body back to the hostel, she found the same symptoms as the girl in the same house, had swallowed, and her body was weak and unable to move.

Ms. Li recalled that the staff then helped the U.S. girl who was still able to walk to the hospital, saying to the unable to move the Chengdu girl "please see the doctor."

When Ms. Li woke up from severe pain again, she saw that the Chengdu girl was still in the room. She asked the girl how she was doing, and the girl said she felt much better. She also told Ms. Li, "A staff member stayed with her all afternoon and held her hand, which made her feel very warm." At that time, Ms. Li felt that the girl's symptoms looked lighter than herself.

By the early morning of September 2, Ms. Lee’s condition deteriorated dramatically, and the pain was worse than swallowing a knife.””She knew later that her blood pressure had dropped to a dangerous level.

Doctors diagnosed with acute gastrointestinal inflammation and severe dehydration, warning of “possible shock at any time”.of this hostel. The girl was taken to hospital for the same symptoms.

He was in the bathroom for seven hours.

When I went to the hospital for help, I realized that the ambulance wasn't coming for her

At the same time that Ms. Li was sent to the ICU for rescue, another Chinese tourist, Ms. Zhao, was experiencing the test of life and death in the toilet compartment of the hostel.

The meals and treatments taken by Ms. Zhao that day

Ms. Zhao was at a hostel dinner on the evening of September 1, and was one of the second groups of addicts. According to her, there were hospitalized guests on the same day, but the hostel was still serving meals normally.

"I heard the Filipino in the bed next to me groaning at 4 a.m. on the 2nd." Ms. Zhao recalled. "My stomach suddenly cramped, and I curled up in the bed instantly, and my pajamas were soaked with sweat." She struggled to rush to the toilet. As soon as she opened the door, she saw the Filipino lying unconscious on the ground.

Zhao Nvshi didn't have time to think much about it. She rushed into the cubicle and began to vomit violently. "I quickly collapsed and fainted on the toilet in the toilet cubicle." She recalled. "Later, I felt very unwell. When I woke up in pain, I vomited some bile and bloodshot, and then fainted after vomiting."

Thus, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., for a total of seven hours, Ms. Zhao struggled repeatedly in severe pain and coma in the narrow toilet compartment.

“There was no one to take care of during the period.” she said in fear, “I went into the toilet with the face of the staff. At that time I was severely dehydrated, and if I didn’t wake up myself, I might be found ‘hard’ inside.”

It was only at 11 p.m. that she regained consciousness and with the last force went to the yard to seek help. When she saw the ambulance and the doctors come to the hostel, she knew later that it wasn't for her.

“If I hadn’t found the girl who died at 11 o’clock, I might not have waited for the ambulance so soon.” Ms. Zhao said that she was weak enough to stand when she was picked up by an ambulance.

Messages that no one answered

The unknown cause of death.

On September 2nd, Ms. Li, who was lying in the hospital bed in the intensive care unit, was worried about the Chengdu girl in her roommate. She specially sent a message to persuade her: "Be sure to go to the hospital. I'm in the ICU, and I may go into shock at any time. This is no joke."

However, this news has never received a response.

On September 6, Ms. Li returned to the hostel after leaving the hospital to take her luggage and found that the Chengdu girl was no longer in the room, and that several rooms had been blocked, but other areas of the hostel were still operating normally.

Until she returned home, Ms. Lee learned via social media that the Chengdu girl who had told her “the staff was very warm” had stopped breathing in the room on September 2 – the morning she sent a life-saving text message.

Documents show that the girl was found dead in the hostel.

Many fragments of the details are stuck in the hearts of the survivors. Ms. Lee has continuously recalled those days: “Even if the staff asked a word before the Chengdu girl’s breakfast, she might not die. Timely supplementation of electrolytes, timely medical delivery, she could be completely rescued.”

What exactly was the cause of the girl's death? Is it food poisoning or water pollution? So far, neither the hostel nor the police nor the hospital has given a clear answer.

As of press time, the hostel has not made any response, and Red Star News reporters have repeatedly called the hostel but failed to get through.

According to a previous report by Red Star News, the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar has contacted the girl's family. The local police conducted an autopsy on the girl and her body has been cremated, but the relevant situation is still under investigation. On the evening of September 23rd, the Red Star News reporter contacted the Badong County Police Headquarters in Bali, which is in charge of the area involved. A spokesman for Badong County Police said: "This case is still under investigation, and we can't or can't explain the progress of this case at present."
