On the first day after taking office, Thailand's new foreign minister called on Thailand to reduce border troops and jointly ease tensions.

According to Reuters, the new Foreign Minister of Thailand, Sihasha Pongregor, told reporters that Thailand and Cambodia should reduce their military presence in the border areas of the two countries and work together to ease tensions.

According to Reuters, Sihasa Pongjige said that the ceasefire agreement reached after the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia at the end of July must be observed. On his first day in office, he told reporters that his first task is to ensure peace between the two countries, and the two countries need to implement the joint actions agreed in the dialogue earlier this month, including reducing troops, clearing landmines and cracking down on illegal activities.

"Peace requires reducing troops, such as withdrawing heavy weapons from border areas to reduce the risk of conflict." Sihasa Pontjike said. "We have agreed on these matters in principle, but now we need to see progress."

The new cabinet of Thailand, which was served as Prime Minister and Interior Minister by the Army of Anutin Shemwilla, met with Thai King Mahatma Wassir Lamong in Bangkok at the evening of the 24th, and took the oath in front of him.

Thailand and Cambodia have been in armed conflict in border areas since July 24, accusing each other of violating international law. According to data released by the two sides, the conflict has caused hundreds of people to die and more than 100,000 people to be evacuated to safe areas. On August 7, the two sides reached a consensus and signed an agreement on ceasefire rules at the Special Meeting of the General Committee on the Border of the Two Countries held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
