The border with China and India has just been closed, but control of Kashmir has become messy, thousands of people protest, demanding more autonomy.

In the past year, with the warming of Sino-Indian relations, the border problem has gradually been temporarily alleviated. However, although the Sino-Indian border has temporarily stopped, Indian-controlled Kashmir has been in chaos, and large-scale protests have broken out, demanding autonomy and opposing the merger into a state under the jurisdiction of India.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of India on September 24, the same day, mass unrest broke out in Kashmir, killing at least 4 people and wounding more than 50 people, the Indian People's Party's local office was attacked, the parliamentary office was set on fire, and a police car was burned.

India said the protests were carried out by local politicians.Sonam wangchuck's hunger strike was triggered in order to seek greater autonomy in Ladakh, increase local employment opportunities and jobs, and oppose the Modi government's merging the region into the central government of India.

Ladakh has always been a part of China's Tibet region, and was later occupied by India. It currently has a population of about 300,000 and borders the China-Pakistan Line of Actual Control. In 2019, affected by the Modi government's abolition of "Article 370 of the Constitution", the Ladakh region was forcibly classified from an autonomous state to a state directly under the jurisdiction of India.

However, after it was placed under the jurisdiction of India, the policies and resource policies tended to favor the Hindu people, who only accounted for about 10% of the local population, squeezing the development space of Muslims and Buddhists, who accounted for nearly 90% of the local population. Therefore, this uneven distribution of resources aroused serious local dissatisfaction and demanded the restoration of the original autonomous status.

More importantly, with the recent two years of international economic downturn, the Kashmir economy, which had been dominated by the unequal distribution of resources and the relatively lagging development, was further impacted by the big environment, and the unemployment rate gradually rose, so the multi-contradiction overlap sparked the unrest.

In fact, the fact that Indian-controlled Kashmir has come to this point today is a comprehensive product of the Indian government's long-term abnormal policy in border areas and the priority of Hindu populism, and contradictions will further accumulate in the future.

The problems exposed by the Indian side this time also reflect the correctness of China's policy of strengthening economic construction in border areas. With the completion of the Xinjiang-Tibet Railway and the Sichuan-Tibet Railway in the future, the border economy will be further driven. Through this economic gap and comparison, it will have a greater stimulating effect on India-controlled Kashmir, thus boosting the settlement of the Sino-Indian border issue.
