Italian Prime Minister: Israel has no right to prevent Palestinian state

On September 24, local time, Italian Prime Minister Meloni pointed out in his speech at the general debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly that Israel has no right to prevent the establishment of a future Palestinian state, nor has it the right to continue to build new settlements in the West Bank.

Meloni said that Italy's consistent position is to support peace and Palestinian statehood, and set two indispensable preconditions: first, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) must release all Israeli hostages; Second, Hamas must abandon any role it has in the Palestinian government.

Meloni pointed out that Israel’s counter-attack against Hamas failed to comply with the principle of proportionality and caused great harm to Palestinian civilians, a response that has gone beyond the limits set by international humanitarian law and constitutes a massacre of innocent civilians, which is unacceptable.
