According to the German news TV channel website on September 24, US Secretary of State Rubio said:Russia’s delay in Ukraine’s peace process has prompted U.S. President Trump to change his attitude toward Moscow.He said at the United Nations that Trump showed "extraordinary patience" in hoping for a diplomatic breakthrough, but that as a result, not only was the peace process stalled, "we also entered a phase of potential escalation," Rubio said, saying the United States was concerned about Russian drones and aircraft violating neighbouring countries' airspace.
Rubio threatened to impose economic sanctions on Moscow and stressed that the U.S. could continue military aid to Kiev. He said Trump had "real options" and that he would take the necessary measures if Russia continued to provoke.“The president is a very patient man, he is committed to peace, but his patience is not endless.”
Earlier, Trump held talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky during the general debate of the UN General Assembly, then announced a change in policy towards Ukraine on his “real social” website. He said he believes Ukraine has the ability to win the war against Russia thoroughly with the help of its Western allies.
Zelensky said in a statement at the United Nations: “Moscow is afraid of the United States and always values the United States.” Zelensky said about his meeting with Trump: “I just met with President Trump and we discussed how to ultimately peace.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Karas welcomed Trump’s reform. When asked how the EU would react to this, she said: “We are very optimistic about it.”
When asked if he was surprised by Trump's new stance, Kallas said, "It's a very clear statement that we've never heard before." It's very good that we're on the same ground now, she said.
