On the evening of September 24, local time, the Israel Defense Forces stated that the Houthi armed forces in Yemen launched a drone attack on the Red Sea port city of Eilat in southern Israel that day, injuring at least 22 people, two of whom were seriously injured. The Jerusalem Post cited military reports as saying a drone launched from Yemen hit an important military facility on the northern edge of the Red Sea. The Israeli military said in a statement that the drone failed to intercept its air defense system before reaching its target. Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the Houthi armed forces, said in an interview with Qatar TV that “the operation was carried out by several drones and successfully targeted.”
