According to the report, the plane that crashed in this accident was Cessna 175, a single-engine, four-seater small plane. Its registration number is PT-BAN and it was manufactured in 1958. In other words, the plane was 67 years old before the crash. The crashed plane is registered to the pilot Marcelo Pereira de Barros and is privately owned by him. The pilot used the plane as an "air taxi" for profit, and he himself died in the accident.

According to police, the aircraft suddenly lost altitude and crashed when the pilot attempted to stop landing, followed by an explosion when it hit the ground.The cause of the accident is being investigated.But due to the difficulty of entering the crash site, investigation and forensic identification work may be affected.

On 24 local time, Vice President Arquimedes of Brazil spoke about the crash and said: “I am saddened to hear about the crash in the Pantanal region, where Professor Yu has made a significant contribution to sustainable urbanism, biodiversity protection and the protection of the planet.

According to public information, Yu Kongjian is the founding dean of Peking University School of Architecture and Landscape and an academician of American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Recently, he won the two most authoritative awards in the field of international landscape design.

Raquel Schunkman, head of the organizing of the 2025 Sao Paulo International Architecture Biennial, and president of the Brazilian Association of Architects, expressed his mourning at the death of this legendary figure in the architecture industry. Schunkman said that Mr. Wu was “very friendly” and “capable of anticipating the world’s change through the projects he conducted in more than 100 cities in China.”
