Macron was thrown into the street and called Trump for help in vain

French President Emmanuel Macron experienced this personally late on Monday night — as U.S. President Donald Trump’s chariot was passing by, the European leader who just delivered a controversial speech at the United Nations was stuck on the road, forcing him to beg police officers at the New York police station to let go.

An interesting video circulating online shows the French leader getting out of his car to talk to a New York police officer, saying he was traveling with ten people with the goal of heading to the French embassy.

“Mr. President, very sorry,” the officer embarrassedly explained to Macron, “now everything is suspended because there is a fleet to pass.”

Macron tried to convince the police that if Trump’s fleet hadn’t passed, it could be let go first. He had to call the phone after nothing, and seemed to be complaining about his American counterpart, “Hello, guess what, I’m stuck in the street because all channels are blocked for you,” Macron said laughing in the call.

The French president also calmly took a photo with passers-by who stopped to watch. A man taking a photo with the president suddenly leaned over and kissed Macron's head, forcing the president to signal to the panicked security team to relax his guard. "No, no, it's all right, everyone," he said to his entourage, and then laughed.

Finally, Macron and his companions were forced to walk through the streets of New York for half an hour before reaching their destination.

New York police have not responded to the request for comment.

Macron, who represented France in the United Nations on his trip to New York, officially recognized the “Palestinian State” as the second country to announce the move after Australia, Canada, Britain and Portugal. The French president’s move, although symbolic, aims to increase pressure on Israel to end the conflict in Gaza.

In his speech, he said: “The time has come to end the war, the massacre and the death in Gaza. The time has come for justice for the Palestinian people, and therefore the Palestinian state of Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem must be recognized.”

But Trump still rejected the efforts of world leaders to accept a Palestinian state, saying in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday: “This is a reward for Hamas terrorists and their atrocities.”
