On September 24, local time, Panamanian President Mulino firmly reaffirmed his commitment to the Treaty on the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal when he spoke at the general debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

Mulino said neutrality is the best way to protect the security of the Panama Canal, which is a global public wealth. The Panama Canal, which is neutral, open to the world and promotes more integrated international trade, will always belong to Panama.

In addition, Mulino said that the United Nations not only shoulders the fundamental mission of preventing global war, but also faces the urgent challenge of promoting the realization of sustainable development goals.
