The Star Wars Project will build five new AI data centers in the United States

The U.S. Open AI Research Center, Oracle and Japanese SoftBank Group jointly announced that the three companies jointly created the "Star Gate" project will build five new AI (artificial intelligence) data centers in the United States.

Among the five newly-built data centers, the two newly announced are located in Ohio and Texas, respectively, and are being developed by SoftBank Group and the Open AI Research Center in collaboration, which can be expanded to 1.5 gigawatts in the next 18 months.

The Open Artificial Intelligence Research Center reached an agreement with Oracle Bone Inscriptions in July this year to invest more than 300 billion US dollars in the next five years to jointly develop three data centers with a total capacity of 4.5 gigawatts in Texas, New Mexico and somewhere in the Midwest of the United States.

The three companies said the five AI data centers, coupled with their previous flagship data centers in Texas and cooperation projects that are underway with the “core weaving” company, could bring the “Star Gate” project to a planned capacity of 7 gigawatts, with investments in excess of $400 billion over the next three years.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced in January at the White House that three companies joined forces to build the “Star Gate” project, investing $50 billion in infrastructure to support AI development in the United States.
