On September 24 local time, a plenary session of the Russian Federation Council appointed Igor Krasnov as president of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Krasnov was born in 1975 and has served as the Attorney General of the Russian Federation since January 2020. On the same day, President Vladimir Putin issued an order to remove Krasnov from the position of Attorney General of the Russian Federation. According to the Russian Constitution, the President of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation is appointed by the Federal Committee on the basis of the President of the Russian Federation and after assessment by the relevant committees for a term of six years.
