UN investigation: Israeli government seeks permanent control of Gaza occupying West Bank

On September 23, local time, the United Nations Commission of Inquiry stated that the Israeli government has made it clear its intention to establish permanent control over the Gaza Strip and ensure that Jews account for a majority in the occupied West Bank.

The United Nations report detailed Israeli authorities’ massive and systematic demolition of civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Corridor and the buffer zone, which led to the extension of Israeli control to 75 percent of the Gaza Strip in July.

The report also said that since October 2023, Israel's policies have shown clear intentions to forcibly move Palestinians, expand Jewish settlements and annexe the entire West Bank. The report also highlights military operations in Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, which led to the destruction of houses and infrastructure and the displacement of residents. The Committee considers these actions to be militarily unjustified and amounted to collective punishment. (Headquarters reporter Zhao Miao)
