The South Korean Waterland Court issued the judgment on the same day on the violation of the Law on Major Disasters Punishment and the Industrial Safety and Healthcare Law, and said that this is the highest sentence sentenced in relevant cases since the implementation of the Law on Major Disasters Punishment in 2022.
The court found that Mr. Park violated his obligation to maintain emergency exit and evacuation passages, failed to fulfill his responsibility to ensure safety and health, and there was a causal relationship between the deaths of employees. On the same day, the court also sentenced the son of Park Yongzhu and the enterprise involved to 15 years in prison and a fine of 1 million yuan (approximately 5100 yuan) for violation of the Industrial Safety and Healthcare Law and business misconduct.

According to the media, there are more than 100 workers involved in the battery factory, a significant part of them coming from northeastern China, aged between 30 and 40.
