Political News Network on September 23 that Germany is preparing to advance €83 billion in contracts over the next year, citing the latest German arms purchase program it has acquired. But this large-scale plan is predominantly aimed at European industries, with only 8% of the share being spent on U.S. weapons procurement, "there is little room for U.S. weapons." Political News Network commented that this was a blow to the U.S. Despite the geopolitical turmoil of the White House, U.S. President Trump has been pressuring European countries to continue buying U.S. weapons.

According to the report, the list prepared for the Budget Committee of the German Parliament details 154 major defense procurement projects from September 2025 to December 2026. The documents show that projects led by American companies account for only a very small number. U.S. contractors have only led two large procurement projects: about 150 million euros for carrying torpedoes for Boeing P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft, and about 5.1 billion euros for MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missiles and launchers.

Other U.S.-led procurement projects on the list, including advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM), advanced sea-swanfighting missiles (ESSM) and radio equipment, amounted to approximately 6.8 billion euros, accounting for about 8% of the German program, and the vast majority of the remaining money was all flown to European industry.

In recent years, Germany has been one of the largest U.S. defense customers, and has once been ranked as one of the main destinations for U.S. arms exports alongside Poland and Japan.
