Iranian Foreign Minister will meet with British, French and German foreign ministers to hold "last-minute" consultations on the Iranian nuclear issue

Iranian Foreign Minister Al-Araqi is currently in New York to attend the week of the 80th High-Level Conference of the United Nations General Assembly.Al-Araqi will meet with foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany during the UN General Assembly meeting to consult on the Iranian nuclear issue and strive to prevent the resumption of sanctions against Iran through final negotiations.

On September 22, local time, Araghzi met with Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Before the meeting, Araghzi called on Britain, France and Germany to choose between "cooperation and confrontation" in an interview. He emphasized that,“European countries should be aware that Iran will not succumb to pressure and threatening language.”Araghzi said, "I hope a diplomatic solution can be found in the next few days, otherwise Iran will take appropriate measures."

In order to put pressure on Iran to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, Britain, France and Germany informed the Security Council on August 28th on the grounds that Iran failed to implement the Iranian nuclear deal, and started the "quick restoration of sanctions" mechanism in accordance with Resolution 2231. If the Security Council failed to pass a resolution on extending the exemption period of sanctions against Iran within 30 days, the relevant sanctions will be restored. On September 19th, the Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution aimed at continuing to lift sanctions against Iran because nine countries, including the United States, Britain and France, voted against it. If Iran, Britain, France, Germany and related countries fail to reach an agreement on the extension before September 27th, all UN sanctions will be resumed.
