More than 20 countries, including Canada and France, issued a joint statement urging Israel to lift restrictions on the delivery of medicines and medical equipment to Gaza.

Canada, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany and other countries issued a joint statement saying that with the continuation of the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, there is an urgent need to strengthen the medical treatment of Gaza patients.

The statement also said, "We strongly call on Israel to open medical corridors to the occupied West Bank," aiming to enable patients to receive urgently needed treatment in the Palestinian territories. The statement added that it urged Israel to lift restrictions on the delivery of medicines and medical equipment to Gaza in accordance with its obligations under international law, immediately ensure that relevant personnel can carry out relief work in Gaza, and ensure that medical personnel are respected and protected.

Reuters said that the countries that made the above statement did not include the United States.
