Saudi Foreign Minister calls on all countries to recognize the Palestinian state

[Global Network Reporter Suo Yanqi] According to Agence France-Presse, as western countries set off a "recognition wave" of the Palestinian state, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal called on all countries to follow suit and recognize the Palestinian state on Monday (22nd) local time.

“We call on all other countries to take a similar historic move, which will have a significant impact on supporting efforts to implement the ‘two-country plan’,” Fassal said at a UN conference that day.

According to Saudi Arabiya TV, Faisal said that the historic position of France and many other countries in recognizing the Palestinian state "reflects the will of the international community to achieve justice for the Palestinian people."

At the time of the statement, several countries, including France, announced the recognition of the State of Palestine at a high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the “Two-State Plan” on the 22nd local time, while Israel and the United States opposed it.

According to reports, following the official recognition of the Palestinian state by Britain, Canada, Australia and Portugal on September 21st, on the afternoon of September 22nd, local time, France, Monaco, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta and Andorra also announced their official recognition of the Palestinian state. So far, 157 of the 193 member states of the United Nations have recognized the state of Palestine.
