White House Press Secretary Levitt said that US President Trump was aware of the relevant proposal and hoped to make a public comment on it. She also said that Trump said he would personally handle this proposal.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Putin said that Russia is confident in the reliability of its deterrent forces, but does not intend to engage in an arms race. Putin suggested that the United States maintain the status quo established by the New Strategic Weapons Reduction Treaty.
