The White House said on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump had read the letter from Venezuelan President Maduro, but that U.S. policy toward Venezuela remained unchanged.
White House press secretary Levitt said the U.S. considers the Maduro regime illegal, and Trump has made it clear that he is willing to take all necessary measures "to stop the illegal trafficking of deadly drugs from Venezuela to the United States."
On the 21st local time, Venezuelan Vice President Rodriguez confirmed that Venezuelan President Maduro sent a letter to US President Trump on September 5th, clarifying that there were no illegal drug activities in Venezuela, calling on the US military threats against Venezuela, the Caribbean and South America to end, and the declaration of the peace zone of the Latin American Community must be respected.
