The high-level conference on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations was held at the United Nations headquarters on September 22.The participants stressed that it is necessary to reiterate their commitment to multilateralism and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and work together to strengthen the role of the United Nations.

UN Secretary-General antonio guterres pointed out that the purposes and principles of the UN Charter are "under unprecedented attack", and war, hunger and climate change are all severely testing the global governance system. He stressed: "To meet these challenges, we should not only defend the status of the United Nations, but also strengthen its role."

Guterres called on UN member states to work together to promote the implementation of key agendas such as the Future Treaty and the United Nations 80th Anniversary Reform Initiative, and the only way to move forward is to work together.

Speaking at the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the President of the United Nations, Annalena Belburke, said that the 80th anniversary of the United Nations is at a crucial turning point, ¡°We must choose the right path and show the world that we can work together.¡±

In her speech, former Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf said: "We must acknowledge that the international multilateral architecture established to protect future generations from war is not performing well, and the world has not yet formed a synergy to meet the challenges posed by technology." She urged countries to make tangible commitments to protect civilians and create opportunities for youth.

Gro Harlem Brentland, former Prime Minister of Norway and former Director General of the World Health Organization, noted that more than eighty percent of the global Sustainable Development Goals are deviating from the track.
