Qatar's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the evening of September 21 local time welcoming the announcement by Britain, Canada, Australia and Portugal of their recognition of the Palestinian state.

The move, which is in line with the norms of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, as well as the requirements of the New York Declaration on a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the implementation of the two-state plan, contributes to the achievement of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region and marks the important victory of the Palestinian people in the struggle for the legitimate rights of the nation.

The statement calls on all countries that have not yet recognized the Palestinian State to take the same action.
