Breaking-News >> WorldNews Venezuela confirms Maduro has written to Trump
Venezuelan Vice President Rodriguez posted on social media on 21 September the contents of President Maduro's letter to US President Trump earlier this month, saying the United States should stop military threats against Venezuela, the Caribbean and South America. Rodriguez said the letter was handed over to the recipient on the 6th through a South American intermediary, and the government decided to make the full text public because part of the letter had been leaked in the U.S. media. In his letter, Maduro quoted United Nations data as saying that only about 5% of the drugs produced in Colombia tried to be transported out of the country through Venezuela, and these drugs were intercepted and destroyed near the border between the two countries. In his letter, he also invited Trump to resolve differences through dialogue and maintain peace throughout the Western Hemisphere. The U.S. has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela to "fight the Latin American drug trafficking group." Earlier on 21 January, a reporter asked Trump if he had received a letter from Maduro, but he did not respond directly, but said, "Let's see what happens to Venezuela."
